Belting / Fastening Supplies

Conveyors can be endless, and are therefore not joined. But, in most cases endless belts are difficult or impossible to install.

Therefore, each end of the cut belt has a prepared end fastener, which mesh somewhat like a zipper. A connecting pin is inserted to complete the join. These belts are driven by one of two or more pulleys.

The process of cutting belt material to length, preparing end for fasteners, installing the fasteners is relatively easy, but precision is what makes it work.

Fastener gauges are determined by:

  • load to be carried

  • in some cases, by width of belt

  • thickness of material

Appropriate gauge fasteners are critical.

Cut belts ends may / may not need treatment:

  • rough top belt needs to have peaks skived to permit fastener hooks' penetration into structural plies

  • rough top belt ends need no other treatment

  • semi-rough belts may need a smaller gauge, but stronger fastener type

  • semi-rough belt ends need no other treatment

  • smooth belts can be treated as similar thickness semi-rough

  • thin, modern rubber belts are too thin for standard gauge fasteners

  • thin, modern rubber belts need short hooks

  • non-woven belt material does not need end treatment

  • perforated / vacuum belts need end-treatment to strengthen grip of fasteners

  • cotton and woven materials need special end treatment to keep hooks from pulling out, methods include:

  • sewn ends

  • capped ends

  • ends dipped into glue / binder

NEW Improvements in Cotton / Woven Belt Material END TREATMENT: Heat-Sealed Caps

The best end treatment / fastener is a combination of four factors:

  • universal, interchangeable gauge

  • teeth / hooks maintain spacing and alignment

  • ends do not fray, to allow hooks to tear out

  • pressure and depth controlled

AVOID Non-standard Gauge Fasteners:

  • non-standard gauge fasteners require a ' slave converter ' to use in place of standard gauge

  • user is then committed to use non - standard gauge since 'slave converter' is not supplied for re-conversion.

Our new system has universal gauge hooks held in a pre-fab cap, with a heat–enabled adhesive. Special jig has spaced slots for hooks, which are then heated in special jaws, and then hydraulically crimped in a second jig to a specific depth. Hook depth is controlled such that loop freely allows connecting pins to mesh both ends.

The New System is the definitive woven and vacuum belt end treatment and fastening.

Save TIME and LABOUR connecting laced belts.

With the Grabmaster one man does the job of two and total labour time is reduced by as much as 80%.

This unique cost-saving tool grips each end of any flat tension belt and pulls the ends together and locks them in position while the pins are inserted into the clipper hooks.

Directions for use:

  • Simply fit each belt end into one of the Grabmaster clamps.

  • Close and lock the clamps.

  • Press handle to bring belt ends together and lock them.

  • Insert pin into joints without effort.
